The Honest Students

During a quiet afternoon in Wade, New Jersey A group of four individuals were walking around when they decided to visit a sporting equipment, they walked inside but they saw that no one had been operating the register, in order to not bother the employees which they were not able to locate, they selected their items and then proceeded to the counter and they paid for the items including the tax. What they had not known was that the store was closed, but the employee had not secured the perimeter and did not appropriately locked the store. When the individuals were greeted by the manager and the police they feared they were being falsely accused, but they were humbly thanked for their actions. The individuals expressed a correct sense of morality which is highly admirable.

“Always do Right.”-Mark Twain

Mr. Twain is attempting to convey the importance of morally correct decisions within his quote. Many may ask but what is right? clearly many of us hold misconceived opinions upon what right is, since most of our character is particularly constructed by us through our observation, so in a sense clearly the individuals around us influence our perception of what is correct and what is incorrect. Suppose a child is raised with in an environment in which he is told to help any individual who is in need, therefore that child is conditioned to help individuals. So therefore the environment in which an individual is raised can have a profound effect upon the child’s development of a moral sense.

“Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.”- Peter F. Drucker

The quote is attempting to convey the importance of an individualized perception with in our society, and this individualized perception must manifest itself from what is clearly correct within this world. Suppose a child is told to provide his teacher with his opinion with regards to a topic such as racial equality, but in the environment in which the child was raised many of the individuals held certain improper opinions toward other ethnic groups or cultures, including several of his classmates, the child clearly is not troubled by other ethnic groups or cultures, so during the decision making process the child must decide whether to provide his opinion or appeal toward society and express an improper opinion with regards toward other races or  cultures. If the child were to do what is right he would state that he was not troubled by other races since he was aware that the maltreating of other races was morally incorrect. This conveys the idea that the quote is attempting to convey, which is “Even though society or groups perceive a certain action or idea as correct does that clearly mean it is morally correct?”
